Alternative to TickTick
A simpler TickTick alternative for calm, realistic days
TickTick packs a lot into one app for a low price: lists, a calendar, habits, a focus timer and more. For many people that is exactly right. Others find that more features mean more to manage, while the main question stays unanswered: does today actually fit? Plenzu is made around that one question.
| Question | TickTick | Plenzu |
|---|---|---|
| Free plan | Yes, with limits | Yes, everything for now |
| Price per year | $36 for Premium | €0 now · Pro later €39 |
| Plans your day around your hours | Not built around it | Yes, a time bar per day against your own hours |
| Tasks you did not finish | Marked overdue | “Carried over”, and you choose: today, move or let go |
| Works on | Web, iPhone, Android, Mac, Windows | Web, installs on phone and computer |
Why people look for a TickTick alternative
- So many features that the app itself starts to ask for attention.
- A long list for today, with no sign of how many hours it adds up to.
- Overdue tasks that keep coming back and make each morning heavier.
- A wish for an app made and hosted in the EU.
What Plenzu does differently
Plenzu has fewer features on purpose, and one clear question each day: does this fit? Give tasks a duration, set your own hours per weekday, and a time bar shows planned time against them, with a buffer for the unexpected.
There is no red overdue list. Each morning Plenzu shows what was carried over, and you choose: today, move or let go. The Planner shows a day, week or month, and you drag tasks to a quieter day. Like TickTick, Plenzu has an Eisenhower matrix, and it sorts itself from each task’s priority and dates.
Plenzu runs on its own server in the EU, in English and Dutch, and you can export everything to JSON or CSV at any time.
When TickTick suits you better
If you want as much as possible in one app, such as built-in calendar views of your agenda, many integrations or native apps on every device, TickTick offers more for a low price. Plenzu is a web app you can install, made for calm personal planning.
How to switch
- 1Create a free Plenzu account with your email.
- 2Set your hours per weekday in Settings.
- 3Add this week’s tasks with a rough duration. Leave old lists where they are for now.
- 4Plan one week in Plenzu and see whether your days feel calmer.
Questions
Is Plenzu free like TickTick’s free plan?
Plenzu is completely free for now, with unlimited tasks and workspaces. A Pro plan of €39 a year is planned for later, and the free plan stays.
Does Plenzu have an Eisenhower matrix?
Yes. The Matrix page sorts your open tasks into do first, plan, keep short and let go, from their priority and dates.
Can I import from TickTick?
Not yet. Start with the tasks for the coming week; that is often a good moment to leave old tasks behind.
